Felix from the University of Greifswald, Germany. Sangita studied the mechanism of heart failure and cardiac regeneration during her postdoctoral fellowship. She also worked on the role of proteostasis and ubiquitin proteosome pathway on differential regulation of cold induced brown fat\u00a0<\/span><span>thermogenesis, a major cause for the various metabolic disorders including cardiovascular diseases. He obtained his B.S. in Biological Sciences from Zhejiang University, and Ph.D. in Computational and Integrative Biology from Dr. Benedetto Piccoli&#8217;s lab at Rutgers University. His primary research involves the interdisciplinary study of mathematical modeling (dynamical systems and control theory), machine learning (physics-informed deep learning), and bioinformatics. During his PhD, he investigated the role of long noncoding RNA and other chromatin architecture proteins in maintaining epigenetic cellular memory, using a mouse with an inactivated X chromosome as a model system. He found that lncRNA Xist, DNA methylation, and chromatin architecture proteins are important for keeping both imprinted and randomly inactivated X chromosomes stable. He joined Choudhury&#8217;s lab in September 2024. In Choudhury&#8217;s lab, he is interested in understanding the role of epigenetics, especially methylation, in heart development and how methylation dysregulation can lead to congenital heart disease.
